Consultation
A consultation is an important part
of any holistic treatment and will usually
last for about fifteen minutes, although
the first consultation might take longer.
The consultation takes place before
the treatment and the therapist will
ask questions regarding your lifestyle,
medical conditions and history, your
objectives for receiving the treatment
and what is currently going on in your
life. These questions will allow the
therapist to tailor your massage to
suit you and based on the information
given will also be able to identify
if there are medical reasons, (contra-indications)
why the treatment should not take place
(please refer to the
Massage Prices page
for the list of conditions not suitable
for Massage).
All information given is confidential
and all details will be securely stored
to ensure your privacy. The consultation
will also give you time to ask any questions
or air any concerns that you may have
about the treatment to the therapist.
It will also help you get to know the
therapist and develop a good relationship
with her and vice versa.
Treatments
After your consultation the therapist
will have identified the areas which
would benefit from a deep massage and
will have discussed your preference
to the intensity of the pressure to
be used.
You will then undress, in private, down
to your underwear and will lie on your
back on the couch covered by towels
ready for your massage. The massage
will then begin, starting with your
legs, then onto your arms and shoulders.
The therapist will then ask you to turn
over onto your front so that they can
massage the back of your legs and then
finish with a deep, relaxing massage
to your back.
After
Treatment
After your massage you will be left
alone on the couch and be allowed to
‘come round’ in your own
time, water will be given as refreshment.
Your therapist will discuss and agree
with you, your treatment plan if necessary
and go through the aftercare advice
sheet. It is very difficult to predict
how you will feel after a massage as
so many people react in so many different
ways. However clients may experience
some the following: Lethargy, relaxation,
release of tension, soreness of muscles,
redness of skin, feeling of well being
and in some cases a marked increase
in energy levels.
Healing Crisis
After a treatment some clients may experience
what therapists call ‘a healing
crisis’ and you may experience
the following:
A headache, Cold/Flu symptoms, going
to the toilet more often and emotional
upset (crying).
If you do experience healing crises,
there is nothing to be alarmed about,
it is the body’s way of naturally
removing the toxins and negative energy
which have been released during the
treatment. The symptoms should only
last for a couple of days, but if you
are at all concerned please do not hesitate
to speak to your therapist.
Please
