What is Swedish
Massage?
Swedish body massage is the manipulation
of the body’s soft tissues using
specific massage techniques to promote
or restore health. Swedish massage is
one of the most relaxing, revitalising
and rejuvenating experiences you can
find, perfect to help combat the stresses
and strains of modern living.
A
Brief history of Swedish Massage.
The use of Swedish massage dates back
to the Ancient Chinese, Greeks and Romans.
The Greeks especially understood the
benefits of massage and the Greek physician
Hippocrates used friction and kneading
movements in the treatment of his patients.
These movements are both used in Swedish
massage techniques.
Swedish
massage itself originated with Henric
Linc, a 19th Century Swedish athlete.
He used and adopted Swedish massage
therapy to help athletes improve their
physiques and advance in their sport.
